Welcome to the village of Burnsall in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales . . . . .

Many people choose a Dales holiday to enjoy some healthy outdoor activities. If this sounds like you then you won’t be disappointed!  There are delightful riverside strolls and exhilarating moorland rambles right on our doorstep here in Burnsall, as well as good seasonal trout and grayling fishing on the River Wharfe for those who like to get away from it all at the water’s edge. And Burnsall really is a year round destination; in Spring you can enjoy the rich abundance of new growth all around, in Summer admire the striking heather covered moors or later, the glorious Autumn tints.

If a gentle drive around is more your thing, Burnsall is an ideal centre from which to explore the wider area of the Yorkshire Dales and Bronte country. And for those who enjoy nothing more than an hour or two browsing round a country market, you’ll find yourself spoilt for choice in this area, with open air markets at Skipton  four days a week, as well as weekly in Hawes, Leyburn and Ripon, to name but a few!

Overlooking Burnsall Village

Burnsall is situated between Bolton Abbey and Grassington in the heart of Wharfedale, one of the southernmost Yorkshire Dales.  This small community is widely regarded as one of the Dales’ most charming villages and in an area renowned for its outstanding natural beauty, that’s really saying something!

Burnsall has been an inspiration to many artists and writers over the years, one  famously saying that it is “a village favoured by the Gods – peace and tranquillity have settled here.”   Well, perhaps nowhere is as tranquil now as it was before the advent of the motor car, but Burnsall is still a most idyllic village, and our many  regular visitors feel that their year would be incomplete without spending a few days here “getting away from it all”.
